| Shared Research: Flashlight Insights I am in the testing stage on the concealment undershirt I mentioned in my last article, but it is designed for a smaller weapon than I own. My “small” gun is a Glock 19. If anyone would like to loan me a smaller gun for a month of testing, I could give a more realistic review. Those who know me are familiar with my penchant for working third shift. Lights are a necessary tool when working in the dark, and a recommended accessory for those serious about self, or home defense. I will start out with my “carry” light, and then some of the other lights in my arsenal of gadgets. I have been carrying a Sure-Fire 6P for years. It projects a bright focused beam, runs on two lithium batteries, and is a very convenient size (about 5 inches long). As is from the factory, it produces 65 lumens with a run time of 60 minutes. The optional replacement bulb assembly, boosts the output to 120 lumens but cuts run time to 20 minutes. I keep one by the back door at 60 lumens, and carry the one with 120 lumens. I assure you this is plenty of light for Joe Citizen! | "concerned with long run times, LED lights are the latest rage" | | | | For law enforcement and the military, they make some that are much brighter. For those of you who are more concerned with long run times, LED lights are the latest rage. Did you ever imagine flashlights could get so technical? I keep a “Quiqlite” (a small LED) clipped to my jacket for finding things in my workbag or getting the key in the lock. I even have a headlamp with different settings for those times when work lights just aren’t feasible. | | | | | | As I stated in my previous article, my friends at PACE Outfitters in Altamonte carry these products, and this is for their customers as well as our club members.
